Marine & Waterways

GGP Consult’s proficiency in offshore and onshore marine and waterway structures is widespread.

This includes the feasibility studies on numerous LNG regasification import terminals, notably the Port of Karachi LNG in Pakistan (one of South Asia's largest and busiest deep-water seaports, handling about 60% of the nation's cargo located in Karachi, Pakistan) and an offshore facility planned in Puerto Rico. We also designed an LNG to vehicle import terminal for Escobar in Argentina (the terminal has the capacity to handle 500 million cubic feet (mcf) of LNG a day and a peak capacity of 600mcf).

Other offshore projects include the design of a gas turbine exhaust stack for the East Fortune FPSO - a drilling vessel.

Near shore works include multiple small projects for the UK Environmental Agency, improving flood resilience and upgrading waterway infrastructures.

Inspection, advice and repair of jetty and mooring structures are also provided by our Civil and Structural Engineering teams.

Marine & Waterways

We have 15 years expertise in the design of oil and gas offloading structures, including deep water, anchored, tubular steel jackets and (more commonly) pile and cap structures.

In addition to which we have an excellent understanding of metocean conditions and the loads applied to marked vessels, along with the optimum mooring infrastructures required. We have been involved in over 20 of these facilities to date, taking several through to commissioning and with other projects still ongoing.

Our teams have extensive experience in the inspection, assessment and repair of offshore structures constructed of steel, timber and concrete including both gas and oil, as well as other liquids and bulk materials.

Previously we have a also designed an extension to the canal system in Salford Keys in Manchester.

We support the Environment Agency with numerous designs and investigations, including flood bank raising & stabilisation, scour protection, outfolds, inlets and other marine related structures.
